Your Chance To Take Part In The Big Butterfly Count!

Butterfly

The Big Butterfly Count begins today (the 20th of July) and lasts until the 12th of August this year. The Big Butterfly Count, is an annual count which is similar to the Big Garden Bird Watch, the only difference is, your count with the Big Butterfly Count is counting butterflies, rather than birds, mammals, reptiles or amphibians.

This is one of the ways that you can help animals this Summer.

However, both the Big Butterfly Count and the Big Garden Bird Watch, have a common purpose. Their common goal is to help animals, wildlife and the environment. These surveys can help animals, the environment and wildlife because they tell wildlife conservations how healthy our environment is.

It can also tell wildlife conservations how well particular species are doing. It can tell whether or not species of animals have a healthy population, or if they are in trouble, or at risk of extinction. It offers a way of monitoring wild animals and the environment.

How Can You Take Part?

Taking part in the Big Butterfly Count is easy. All you have to do is go to Butterfly Conservation, here - their website will show you how you sign up for the Big Butterfly Count. One of the famous wildlife conservationists backing the survey is David Attenborough.

You can see the message that David Attenborough has below.
