Wolfs To Be Removed From The Endangered Species List In The US

Wolf

There are plans to remover wolfs from the endangered species list in the United States. The animals were removed from the endangered species list in the US yesterday, which is concerning for the future of these beautiful animals.

What is particularly concerning about this move to remove wolfs from the endangered species list in the US, is, that one species of the wolf within the country is very vulnerable to extinction.

That wolf species which is very vulnerable to extinction is known as the red wolf. The red wolf is very near extinction today. They are not just an endangered species: the red wolf is a critically endangered species.

Red Wolf

The Red Wolf is one of the most endangered animals in the world today. They are also one of the top animals which are closest to extinction today. Therefore, the Red Wolf and their habitat must be protected if we are to see this animal survive for future generations.

There are now thought to be fewer than 15 individual red wolfs that exist today, which shows how very vulnerable these animals are to extinction.

The other species of wolf found in the United States is the grey wolf.

Grey wolfs would also be affected by the changes to the endangered species list. It would mean that grey wolfs would lose their protections; they would lose their protections because they are being removed from the endangered species list.

Grey wolfs are not as endangered as the red wolf, however, with the wolf being removed from the endangered species list, it would also mean that they wouldn't have the legal protections there to protect them, or their habitat, in turn, this could result in an increase in the persecution of wolfs in the United States and it could also see their population decline.

It's not clear if the removal of wolfs from the endangered species list will apply to both species of wolfs in the US, but it will at least apply to the grey wolf.

The removal of wolfs from the endangered species list is planned to happen by the end of this year.
