Wildfires Grip Siberia For The Second Year In A Row

Wildfires are gripping Siberia again for the second year in a row.

Last year, during July, wildfires in Siberia raged and destroyed millions of acres of land: the 2019 Siberian wildfires destroyed over 7 million acres of land.

This year, it seems like wildfires have been burning since late March. These wildfires were also burning in May and now also June. Forest fires in the area actually aren't uncommon. However, this year they did start very early and have coincided with Siberia's hottest Spring being set this year and its hottest temperature being set this year: the hottest temperature record was set just a few days ago in Siberia, as temperatures reached 38c.

The situation seems to be more intense in Siberia this year. This is because an area the size of Greece is said to be on fire and there has been almost doubled the size of wildfires this year, as it is estimated that over 12 million acres have already burned in Siberia.
