Vegetarian and vegan dishes, are more popular than beef or lamb dishes at Christmas for the first time ever, according to a new report by Tesco.
Tesco reported its findings in their 'Tesco Christmas Report 2020'.
The report asked people how they would be spending Christmas this year. While it also included information about the sales and trends of their products.
The report showed a change in what people are eating for Christmas in the UK.
It found that turkey was still the most popular main course to eat at Christmas. However, they also found that turkey is down by 12% in popularity.
The second most popular dish at Christmas was chicken; the Tesco report found that 9% of people planned to eat chicken on Christmas day.
While the third most popular main courses this year at Christmas is set to be vegetarian and vegan meals. They found that 7% of people planned to eat a vegetarian or vegan main course on Christmas day.
Tesco found that vegetarian and vegan dishes were now more popular than beef and lamb dishes for Christmas. They found that 6% of people, planned to eat roast beef on Christmas day, while 4% planned to eat lamb on Christmas day.
This report shows that vegetarian and vegan meals are becoming more popular.
