UK Government Acknowledges Lobsters Are Sentient 🤍🦞

Beautiful Blue Lobster

The UK Government has acknowledged that lobsters are sentient beings.

The news is very welcoming from the UK Government that they have recognised lobsters as sentient beings, which means that they have recognized that lobsters experience emotions - emotions including pain. The UK Government has also recognized that crabs and octopuses are also sentient beings.

This news is very welcoming because lobsters and crabs in particular experience a tremendous amount of suffering due to being boiled alive. Recognizing these beautiful marine animals as sentient beings - ones that feel pain - could hopefully lead the way to a ban on treating lobsters, crabs and octopuses with cruelty.

The UK Governments move to recognize lobsters, crabs and octopuses and sentient beings, could also hopefully inspire other world governments to do the same.

All animals deserve compassion and consideration because they feel and experience emotions, such as joy, love, fear, sadness and pain.

Our compassion towards animals should reach all animals: not just the ones that people find cute and cuddly. All animals deserve to live in the world without enduring pain and suffering, recognizing the sentience of our animal friends is important in having empathy and consideration for animals.

Creating A Better Future

The UK Government has a new animal welfare bill. The bill is called the 'Animal Welfare (Sentience) Bill'. In this bill, they recognize lobsters, crabs and octopuses as sentient beings in the government's policy decision making. The bill will recognize Decapod crustaceans and cephalopod molluscs.

The move to recognize lobsters, crabs and octopuses is welcoming news - vertebrates (animals that have a backbone), are also being acknowledged as sentient beings. Hopefully, the UK Government - alongside other governments - also begin to recognize all other animals as sentient and worthy of our compassion.

Hopefully, other governments around the world can also recognize the sentience of animals and ban cruel practices that animals are heartbreakingly forced to face.

This move to recognize lobsters, crabs and octopuses as sentient is very welcoming from the UK Government and is a positive move in helping to create a kinder, more compassionate and considerate world for the animals we share this world with.
