5 Robins and The Victorians
Robin's are well-known for their association with winter and Christmas.
They get their association with Christmas from the Victorians. The Victorians created the Christmas we know today. They created things like Christmas crackers, made turkey the main dish at Christmas, made the Christmas tree a central part of our Christmas celebrations, and, created Christmas cards.
Robins became a feature of the Christmas card in Victorian times, and they have remained popular on Christmas cards ever since.
4 Robins Have Several Broods Annually
Broods are young birds born at the same time.
Many animals in the wild, only breed once a year. But. Robins are different. These cute birds often breed a few times a year. Robins will typically breed about two or three times a year, which means that they will raise two or three broods a year.
But, they can have more than this too. Sometimes Robins can have as many as four or five broods in a year, which makes these birds pretty successful breeders.
3 Robins Sing At Night
Robins can be seen throughout the day.
But, they can also be seen during the night and early hours of the morning. Until recently, it was thought that it was nightingales that were the birds that were singing at night. Robins are generally day birds, rather than nocturnal birds, so it is a little surprising that these cute animals sing during the night. It is believed that they are singing during the night because of things like street lamps, or other lights which either might keep the birds awake at night or make them more active at night.
2 Robin's Have A Winter Song

With robins, both the male and female, robin sing all year round. But, they have different songs that they sing at different times of the year.
The song sung by robins during the winter is tamer than the song that they sing during the spring or summer. They sing in winter to protect their territories.
