Tomorrow, is the WWF's Earth Hour.
Earth Hour will be tomorrow, on the 27th of March 2021 at 8:30pm. Earth Hour began in 2007, in Sydney Australia, by the WWF.
Since then, it has been celebrated at the end of March every year. Usually Earth Hour is on the last Saturday every year.
Earth Hour has now grown to be a massive event around the world. It's now celebrated in most countries around the world now.
Earth Hour is now celebrated by over 180 countries and territories, where millions of people around the world now take part in the event.
Earth Hour happens at 8:30pm on your local time and finishes at 9:30pm.
What Can You Do For Earth Hour?
This will be the second Earth Hour that takes part when much of the world is still in lockdowns. The good news is that you can take part in Earth Hour from home.
There are many different things that you can do for Earth Hour this year. You can attended an online event and you can take part in Earth Hour's first ever virtual event, which is called the 'virtual spotlight'.
There's also other things that you could do. You could learn about nature and animals in that hour, you could stargaze and look up at the beautiful night sky, or, you could even do something like take part in a board game during the hour.
What Do You Do When It's Earth Hour?
For Earth Hour, for the hour between 8:30pm and 9:30pm you will put off your lights as a way to draw attention to climate change and challenges that nature faces.
The natural world is facing a biodiversity crisis: we are losing between 150 and 200 species every day to extinction. The species extinction rate is much higher than normal today, and it is happening because of climate change and biodiversity being lost and destroyed. By taking part in Earth Hour, you can help raise awareness and add your voice to help the natural world, the environment, people and the planet.
