Tiger Numbers Are Growing In 5 Different Countries

Tiger

Tiger numbers are growing in 5 different countries, according to the WWF.

The WWF has some excellent news for us: the Tiger population is increasing in 5 different countries. This is excellent news, because the Tiger population has been declining for decades now. The Tiger population has been declining mainly to do with being hunted and their habitats being destroyed by humans.

Now, there is some good news for Tigers. The 5 different countries where the Tiger population is increasing is Bhutan, Russia, China, Nepal and India.

Tiger

Today, Tigers are found within 13 countries in the wild. Therefore, around a third of the countries where Tigers are present in the wild is seeing an increase in their population.

The increase in the Tiger population is also very good news as these majestic animals are an endangered species. But, this endangered species is making a remarkable comeback, according to the WWF, through the increase of their population thanks to people helping to save them.

India today, has the highest Tiger population.

Today, there is between 2,600 and 3,500 Tigers within India.

In Bhutan, the Tiger population has more than doubled over the last eight years. For example, in Bhutan's Royal Manuas National Park, the Tiger population has more than doubled in just eight years, from having 10 Tigers in 2018, to having 22 Tigers in 2018.

In Nepal, the Tiger population has doubled. Nepal's Tiger population has increased over around a decade too, taking the total population of Nepal's Tigers to 235 Tigers.

In Russia and China, the Tiger population is also increasing.

It's extremley hopeful to know that Tigers are now starting to increase.

It shows us that there is and can be a bright future for Tigers.

It also shows us that there can be a bright future for other animals that are endangered.

Doubling The Tiger Population For 2022

There is more good news for these wonderful animals - all 13 countries where Tigers are present in the wild, have pledged to DOUBLE their Tiger population by 2022.

Why 2022?

The reason why all 13 countries, along with the WWF, have choosen to double the Tiger population by 2022 is because it is a special year - 2022 is the Year of the Tiger.

What better way to celebrate the Year of the Tiger than to see their population double!

The WWF's project to double Tigers by 2022 is called Tx2.
