There's good news for Scottish Wildcats: three new Scottish Wildcats have been born in the Highland Nature Reserve in Scotland.
This is fantastic news, as Scottish Wildcats are a critically endangered animal.
There are thought to be as few as about 30 individual Scottish Wildcats left in the wild today. They are now only found in restricted areas of Scotland, where once they were found living throughout the British Isles. For example, the cats became extinct in England during the Victorian era.
Efforts are now in place to return the Wildcats to England, through reintroducing these animals into the wild. Last year it was announced that the Wildcats would be reintroduced to England. While an English-born Wildcat was brought to the Highlands in March of this year to help save these animals from becoming extinct.
The three new kittens bring new hope to these critically endangered animals.
The sex of the kittens hasn't been declared, so it's not known if they are male or female. There is also no name for the cute little kittens. You can see them in the video below.
The kittens will be released into the wild once they are older, in hope that through releasing them into the wild the species can be pulled back from the brink of extinction.
