The UK Is Proposing To Ban Ammunition Which Is Harmful To Nature

Nature

The UK is proposing to ban ammunition that is harmful to nature.

The UK government has said that it is proposing to ban lead ammunition which is harmful to both nature and wildlife.

The ban will be a phased out approach.

The reason for the proposal to ban lead ammunition is because it is harmful to animals, the environment and people. The government says that a large amount of 'lead ammunition is discharged every year over the countryside, causing harm to the environment, wildlife and people'. By banning the lead ammunition, the government hopes to stop the harm being done to the environment, animals and people.

The pellets from the lead ammunition have been found to cause significant damage to birds in the UK. Each year, it is estimated that between 200,000 and 400,000 birds will suffer the health impacts caused by the pellets, and, it has also shown that every year in the UK 100,000 wildfowl die because they ingest the lead.

Therefore, banning the lead ammunition would help stop the deaths and suffering of hundreds of thousands of birds every year in the UK.
