The UK government has announced that it is to increase its funding to tackle the illegal wildlife trade. They have announced that they will spend £3.4 million.
This money will help go towards tackling the illegal wildlife trade, which is amazing.
The money is also set to go to helping the world's most endangered species. The money will help go to protecting endangered species such as tiger, Asian elephants and chimps.
This isn't the first time that the UK government has put forward funding to help the world's most endangered species lately. In September last year, they introduced an action plan to save the natural world. This action plan was aimed at things like helping endangered species.
The UK's additional action plan was set up last year to help to protect beautiful animals like Sumatran tigers and orangutans. A total of £220 million funding went into saving beautiful endangered animals like these last September.
The UK government then announced one month later that they were giving more funding to help the world's most threatened species. It was announced that beautiful animals like Bengal tigers, black rhinos and Madagascan baobabs would be the focus of help and funding.
The aim of this funding wasn't just to protect species who were threatened with extinction, it was also aimed at protecting their habitats, protecting habitats like the great barrier reef and putting funding into help tackle the illegal wildlife trade.
The funding that the government has introduced this time will go into helping pangolins. Pangolins are the world's most trafficked wild animal. Therefore, the funding and ambition to help these adorable animals is much welcome from the UK government.
