England's largest Badger has been given the go-ahead in England.
Sadly, the UK government has permitted another badger cull. This badger cull is supposed to happen in the Autumn of this year, so it is not that far away.
This proposed new badger cull is a u-turn by the UK government, as they promised to 'phase out' the badger cull.
Instead of phasing out the badger cull, the UK government will keep it going and, extend the badger cull. The badger cull this Autumn is set to be extended to 11 new areas. The government has approved that the badger cull can go-ahead this Autumn in 11 new areas.
This new badger cull would be cruel and pointless. This is because there is no scientific evidence that the badger cull works to stop the spread of TB - stopping the spread of, TB is the reason the UK government gives to have these badger culls. It would also be insanely cruel and a massacre of badgers, as ''70,000 healthy badgers will be shot this Autumn'', according to the Wildlife Trusts.
At a time when we need to protect our wildlife and rewild, the UK government is proposing to act destructively towards our wildlife. The UK is already one of the world's most nature depleted countries in the world. Therefore, the last thing we need is more destruction of our wildlife. Instead, we need more protection for our wildlife.
The new proposed badger cull also makes no sense, as this badger cull would include the shooting of badgers which have already been vaccinated. These badger vaccinations have been funded by government funding, which also means that the badger's vaccinations in recent months have been a waste of money, time and resources.
The badger cull has already killed 170,000 badgers in the wild. That means that since the badger cull started in 2013, 35% of the badger population has been shot and killed.
