The EU and US Have Blocked Attempts To Save The Shortfin Mako Endangered Shark

Shorfin Mako Shark

The EU and US have blocked attempts to save the endangered Shortfin Mako Shark.

A new report issued recently has said that the EU (and the US), have blocked an attempt by the UK and Canada to protect an endangered species of Shark, known as the Shortfin Mako Shark. The measures put forward from the UK and Canada would offer help and protection for the endangered Shortfin Mako Shark.

The EU and the US blocking the proposals to protect this Shark species are causing some to fear that the Shortfin Mako Shark is now at risk of becoming extinct.

Shortfin Mako Shark

The Shortfin Mako Shark is in danger of becoming extinct for several reasons. Two of the biggest reasons that these beautiful animals are at risk of extinction is 1) because they are a victim of fishing boat bycatch, and, 2) because they are a victim of fishing for sport. Both of these things are a reason for the Shark's decline.

The decline in the population of the Shortfin Mako Shark is the reason why these beautiful Sharks are at risk of becoming extinct and why the UK and Canada are trying to help protect this Shark species.

The Shortfin Mako Shark has declined so much and so rapidly, it is thought that they have declined by a massive 99.9% since industrial fishing started.

To save these beautiful Sharks, we have to protect them today. Time might not be on this Shark's side, which is why conservation work is important in saving this Shark.
