The Elephant Shrew has been rediscovered, 50 years after the animal disappeared.
The last time the Elephant Shrew was seen in the wild was in 1968. Since 1968, the Elephant Shrew hadn't been seen in the wild for the last 50 years.
This animal was rediscovered by scientists in an African country called Djibouti.
These cute animals were thought to have been extinct for the last 50 years. The rediscovery of the Elephant Shrew makes you wonder what other species out there are thought to be extinct, but, are in fact still surviving! This cute animal was also found within Somalia.
