The Big Garden Birdwatch Weekend 2022 Is Here!

Beautiful Robin

The Big Garden Birdwatch 2022 weekend is here!

The Big Garden Birdwatch is a great event held by the wildlife charity the RSPB every year. It is held at the end of January every year.

What Is The Big Garden Birdwatch?

The Big Garden Birdwatch is an event where people count birds for one hour. Counting the birds for one hour (in your garden, or in a local park) will help the RSPB understand the populations of bird species that come into our gardens.

By counting the birds every year, the RSPB can understand whether or not there are species of birds that are seeing their population declining or increasing.

Understanding bird populations like this can help us to gain knowledge about garden bird populations. And, if we know that bird species are declining, then we can draw attention to this and try and understand why the birds are declining.

If we have knowledge about the population of animals like birds, then we can stop them from declining, address the reasons why they are declining, and, we can also help prevent animals from becoming endangered - or even extinct.

Beautiful Birds

Helping birds is one great reason to take part!

Another great reason to take part in the Big Garden Birdwatch 2022 is that it helps you connect with the nature and animals that are on your doorstep.

It is delightful to watch and appreciate the wildlife and natural world that is right in front of us. It is joyful to take time to enjoy watching the birds and nature.

Taking time to enjoy nature shows us many of the things that matter in life and also helps us to appreciate this beautiful planet and the life we share it with.
