There is great news, as a Scottish Wildcat petition has become one of the biggest petitions ever.
This petition is called 'Save the Scottish Wildcat by Protecting the Clashindarroch Forest'. It has been signed by almost 1 million people now and has become one of Change.Orgs top signed petitions on their website.
The petition is calling for the government to protect one of the last areas where Scottish Wildcats are found in Scotland: the Clashindarroch forest. The Clashindarroch forest is home to Scottish Wildcats. However, sadly, this forest has been facing deforestation and could be facing more deforestation.
Deforestation destroys forests. If the forest is destroyed then the Scottish Wildcats home is also destroyed. This type of destruction of nature is sad and tragic at any time. However, it's even more heartbreaking that this forest is being destroyed because the Scottish Wildcat is Scotland's most endangered animal today.
Scottish Wildcats are critically endangered. Their population is so low that there are thought to be as few as between 30 to 35 Scottish Wildcats in the wild today.
This makes Scottish Wildcats very vulnerable to extinction, and, therefore, we need to protect Scottish Wildcats and their habitats if we are going to save them.
You can help Scottish Wildcats by signing the petition to save their forest home. You can sign this petition - here - let's get it to one million!
