The Scottish SPCA has a new campaign to help animals.
It is called 'Don't let animals suffer' and, is an urgent appeal to help animals who need help and who have been abandoned during recent times.
The animal charity has sadly seen an increase in pets being abandoned and, has also seen an increase in cruel puppy farms since the pandemic began.
There has been an increase in demand for pets during the lockdowns across the pass 12 months in Scotland. That increase in demand for pets has led to an increase in things like the cruel puppy trade.
The Scottish SPCA has said that they have rescued 150 puppies from 'the low-welfare puppy trade' during 2020. Sadly, many of these puppies died before they could be rehomed in loving homes.
Puppies in this trade are not looked after properly and, are often taken away from their mothers when they are very young - too young to be independent from her.
Buying a puppy from a puppy farm fuels this cruel trade.
If you are considering a pet, then an animal shelter like the SPCA is a much better and compassionate way to give a pet home.
