A new report shows that most people care about sustainability this Christmas.
The findings were published in the 'Tesco Christmas Report 2020'.
Tesco found that sustainability was important to most people this Christmas. In other words, most people cared about the environment when buying things for Christmas this year in the UK. Which is great news for the environment!
They found that 74% of people had sustainability in mind when they bought things for Christmas this year. That is a huge increase of 36%.
The report found that over half of people in the UK (51%) would reuse decorations this Christmas, as a way to help the environment.
They also found that a third of UK shoppers would buy fruit and vegetables that were loose and avoid fruit and vegetables that were packaged in plastic.
While they also found that almost a quarter of people would reuse Christmas paper to help the environment and have a sustainable Christmas.
19% of shoppers also said that they would not buy Christmas gifts, wrappings or decorations that were made out of plastic.
And, finally, 14% of people planned to reduce home deliveries this Christmas, as a way to help the environment and have a sustainable Christmas.
This report by Tesco shows that people in the UK care about the planet and how they impact it through the way that they shop this Christmas season.
