PETITION: Help Save Britain's Hedgehogs

Hedgehog

Winter is nearly over in the UK and it is almost spring.

It is the time of year when Hedgehogs will be coming out of hibernation very soon.

Hedgehogs will start to hibernate during the late Autumn in the UK and then stay in hibernation all winter. Hedgehogs hibernate between November and March.

Any time now, Hedgehogs will start to wake up.

Therefore, as Hedgehogs are about to wake up again, it's a great time to help them. You can help Hedgehogs in many ways, such as putting out food and a small bowl of water out for them (please don't put out milk for Hedgehogs).

Hedgehog

You can also help Hedgehogs by providing them with a Hedgehog home and a Hedgehog highway. A Hedgehog highway is a great way to help Hedgehogs as it helps them to move in an out of your garden easily.

Helping Hedgehogs have easy access to your garden can help them to find both food and shelter. This can be especially helpful in early spring when Hedgehogs are coming out of hibernation, and, in late Autumn when they are starting to hibernate.

Hedgehogs have been declining in the UK and providing them with a Hedgehog friendly garden can help individual Hedgehogs and Hedgehogs as a whole.

Hedgehog

By providing a Hedgehog friendly garden, with a Hedgehog highway, you can help stop Hedgehogs declining in the UK, as if they have easy access to our gardens, then it can help prevent them from going on roads as much - road collisions are thought to be one of the main reasons Hedgehogs have been declining.

Help Hedgehogs With This Petition

You can also help Hedgehogs by signing this petition.

The petition is called 'Help save Britain's Hedgehogs with Hedgehog Highways!'. This petition has already been signed by almost 1 million people.

The petition says that a major reason why Hedgehogs are declining in the UK is due to Hedgehogs not having access to our gardens. It then talks about how Hedgehog highways put in gardens, would help save Hedgehogs.
