A new study about dogs has been published recently.
The exciting study was published in 'Science' mag and is called the 'Origin and genetic legacy of prehistoric dogs'.
The researchers have found that dogs were the first animals to be domesticated by humans. They have found that dogs have been domesticated for at least 11,000 years by humans.
There are at least 5 different dog ancestery linages.
The earliest places were dogs were domesticated as pets were Africa, Eurasia and Europe. The most amazing fact that the researchers found was that all dogs share common ancestery with today's wolves.
