The reason why it is great news that new Scottish Wildcat kittens have been born is that the Scottish Wildcat is one of the UK and world's most endangered species today. These beautiful cats are incredibly rare.

Scottish Wildcats are so incredibly rare, that there are only thought to be between 30 to 35 Scottish Wildcats living in the wild today, making them critically endangered.

These wildcats once existed and lived in the wild all across and in most parts of the British Isles, but today, Scottish Wildcats are only found in parts of the highlands.
