The Mexican Gray Wolf population has increased during 2020.
The Mexican Gray Wolf is a subspecies of the Gray Wolf. Today, Mexican Gray Wolfs are an endangered species, so it's great news that their population has been increasing over the past year. Gray Wolves themselves are not endangered today.
The population of Mexican Gray Wolves grew last year by an increase of 186 Gray Wolfs in 2020. This is a population increase of Mexican Gray Wolves by 14% and an increase in the Mexican Gray Wolf population by 23 new Wolves.
In 2019, the Mexican Gray Wolf population was 163 Wolves.
The increase in Mexican Gray Wolves offers hope for their future. These beautiful animals were once much nearer to extinction than they are today. It seems that during the mid 1970's, Mexican Gray Wolves almost became extinct, as they were gone in the wild with only a handful of the Wolves remaining in zoos. Therefore, this news that the Mexican Gray Wolf population has grown is great news knowing that they were once so close to extinction.
This news also offers optimism and hope to other animals that are close to extinction today. It shows that even when animals are on the brink of extinction, they can be brought back from the brink of extinction and a brighter future can be created for them. This happy news about Mexican Gray Wolves is inspiring and great.
