July Sees A 28% Increase In Forest Fires Within The Amazon Rainforest

July has seen a 28% increase in forest fires within the Amazon rainforest this year; this 28% increase is compared to the forest fires within the Amazon rainforest which were happening last July.

This comes after June this year seen an increase in forest fires within the Amazon rainforest. In June 2020, fires in the Amazon rainforest were at a 13 year high and the fires also increased nearly 20% compared to the Amazon rainforest fires in 2019.

Forest fires in the Amazon rainforest have been going on for most of the year now. Thousands of fores fires within the Amazon rainforest, have been picked up this year by satellite.

In July 2020 alone, there have been 6,803 fires in the Amazon.

The fires in the Amazon rainforest are already looking worse this year, than they were last year.

It was in August last year that worldwide attention was brought to the fires within the Amazon rainforest. There was a hashtage on social media called #PrayForAmazonia, which drew attention towards the forest fires that were happening in the Amazon rainforest.

Could the same happen again this year?

Possibly.

Earlier this year in May, there was a warning that forest fires could be worse in 2020.

Hopefully, that is not the case.
