Garden

An insect that was thought to have gone extinct in the UK has been found again.

The insect that was found is called the 'Caddisfly'.

This Caddisfly was found in a garden in Scotland recently, in the Outer Hebrides. The Caddisfly was thought to have went extinct in the UK 100 years ago.

There is thought to be around 200 species of Caddisfly in the UK. In the world, it is estimated that there are around 14,000 Caddisflies in the world.

The Caddisfly is an insect that looks a mixture between a butterfly, moth and a grasshopper. But there are many different species of Caddisfly, so, what they look like will depend upon what species they are.
