How You Can Help Stop The Live Animal Export Industry

The live animal export industry is a cruel industry.

The live animal export industry is where 'farm' animals are put in lorries and ferries - while still living - the animals are put in cramped and hot conditions.

Animals across the UK have to suffer from this industry, as millions of animals are forced to travel long distances, cramped and in hot conditions, across the UK, the EU and other parts of the world.

For example, one-third of 3.2 million lambs from Scotland have to endure cruel live exports to other parts of the UK and EU.

Baby Calves are took away from their mothers at just a few weeks old and are forced to endure long journeys in cramped lorries and ferries from Scotland to other parts of the EU.

The Scottish government is refusing to support of the end of the live animal export industry in Scotland. The Scottish government is facing a legal challenge over its support of the cruel animal live export industry.

Taking animals like baby calfs away from their mothers while they are only weeks old and forcing the baby calfs to endure long, cramped journeys, is inhumane. The Scottish government should be taking a more compassionate approach to how animals - especially very young animals - are treated.

The UK government has said that it wants to ban live animal exports after Brexit.

This is a very welcoming move from the UK government.

Sadly, it is estimated that millions of animals are transported from the EU every year: 6 million animals are forced to be transported live in the EU. These animals are in cramped conditions, they often spend their journeys having no water - journeys can last for days, so this is exceptionally cruel. Also, animals from inside the EU also are forced to travel in these conditions to countries outside the EU - they are forced to travel to continents like Africa and the middle east.

The UK still hasn't banned live animal exports yet.
