The Woodland Trust is wanting to create a wildlife haven in the Yorkshire Dales.
This is called the 'Snaizeholme Appeal'.
The Woodland Trust wants to turn a treeless landscape in the Yorkshire Dales into a wildlife haven. This wildlife haven will help animals like red squirrels.
This is a great idea, as red squirrels in the UK today are vulnerable to becoming extinct within the UK. Therefore, by creating new spaces for wildlife - in this case, creating new forests - the Woodland Trust can help animals like red squirrels recover and thrive.
They also want to help rewild and create new woodlands in the Yorkshire Dales too, to help declining woodland birds. Therefore, by planting new woodlands, the Woodland Trust can also help give a home to woodland birds.
The Woodland Trust is wanting to create 550 acres of new woodland.
They want to create this new woodland in an area of the Yorkshire Dales called Snaizeholme. The Woodland Trust has an opportunity to buy Snaizeholme in the Yorkshire Dales and creates new woodlands there.
The Woodland Trust needs to raise money to buy Snaizeholme to create new woodlands for animals like endangered red squirrels by the end of June.
You can help the Woodland Trust achieve this by supporting them - here!
