Scottish Wildcats are the UK's last wild cat species.
They are also the UK's most endangered land mammal and one of our rarest animals. Today, Scottish Wildcats are critically endangered, which means that these beautiful cats are very close to extinction today.
Scottish Wildcats are so rare today, that their population in the wild is extremely low. It is estimated that there are only around 30 to 35 Scottish Wildcats living in the wild today. This population of wildcats is found living in the Scottish highlands.
These beautiful wildcats once lived throughout Scotland, England and Wales. However, they have been extinct in England and Wales since the Victorian era and, they have disappeared from most of Scotland now too.
They are an endangered animal that could do with our help.
