The summertime is the perfect time to help insects, as, it is the time of year that many insect species are most active - such as butterflies and bees.

One of the best ways that you can help insects - especially when it comes to helping bumblebees and butterflies - is by planting flowers in your garden.


Planting flowers in your garden gives insects like bumblebees and flowers food. The bumblebees and butterflies are provided food from the flowers because the flowers give these beautiful animals nectar and pollen.


Nectar and pollen are important sources of food for insects like these to survive.


Butterflies Eating Fruit

Another good way to help insects this summer is by providing them with other food.


This is especially true when it comes to butterflies.


Butterflies will be attracted to your garden if you provide them with fruit. Putting some sliced up fruit - such as sliced apples - into your garden, will attract butterflies into your garden and give these beautiful insects a source of food.


Bug Hotel

Finally, another good way to help insects this summer, is, by having a bug hotel.


Putting a bug hotel in your garden can help numerous insect species. Bug hotels help insects because they give insects a source of shelter and somewhere to live.


Bug hotels can be made by yourself, or, you can buy a bug hotel.


All of these ways to help insects are great and quick. Insects are declining and disappearing, so, they could do with our help. By doing these three things in your garden to help insects, you can help them survive and thrive.
