Today is World Wildlife Day; Happy World Wildlife Day!
World Wildlife Day is a very special day where we raise awareness about and celebrate the wonderful wildlife that is on our planet.
Our planet is full of so much incredible wildlife - from the furry to the slimy, from the feathered to the smooth; the natural world has it.
From roaring Lions to sleepy Koalas.
From slithering Snakes to flying Eagles.
From majestic Tigers to charismatic Chimpanzees.
The natural world is full of an incredible life - animal and plant life which lives in some of the most beautiful ecosystems.
Our Earth is full of beautiful ecosystems - from the rainforests of Borneo and the Amazon to the African plains and the Himalayas where Snow Leopards silently roam, the Earth has a lot of beautiful scenery and life.
Our earth is full of other beautiful ecosystems, such as: forests, lakes meadows, oceans, and seas. All of these ecosystems are beautiful.
These ecosystems are full of fascinating wild animals. The beauty of our planet is something to admire and to be proud of. It should be something that we protect.
There is a lot of value in keeping the natural world standing, not only for its intrinsic beauty and the right for animals to live on this planet with us but, it's good for us too.
The natural world and nature is beneficial for us. It gives us the air we breathe and the water we breathe. It helps to create a stable climate and can be a natural tool that helps us to fight climate change.
The natural world is also good for us when we get out and about in nature - being in nature is good for both our physical and mental health.
World Wildlife Day 2021
World Wildlife 2021 is today, the 3rd of March 2021.
World Wildlife Day is always celebrated on the 3rd of March. World Wildlife Day was founded in December 2013.
Each World Wildlife Day has had its theme. The theme of last year's World Wildlife Day was 'Sustaining All Life On Earth'.
This year, there is a different theme for World Wildlife Day. This year the theme is 'Forests and livelihoods: sustaining people and planet'.
There are many different types of forests and forest animals around the world. The world's largest forest is the Amazon rainforest.
The Amazon rainforest is home to many different beautiful and unique animals, such as Jaguars and Toucans!
In the UK, Galloway Forest Park is the largest park in the country, followed by Kielder Forest Park. UK forests are home to incredible animals. These animals include everything from badgers and foxes.
In the highlands of Scotland, some of the forests are home to the UK's most endangered animals - the critically endangered Scottish Wildcat.
There are many critically endangered animals in forests around the world; forests around the world are home to some of the world's most critically endangered animals. For example, the Sumatran Tiger is critically endangered today, they live in the Sumatran rainforests and their population is only estimated to be less than 400 cats.
The Sumatran Rhino is also another critically endangered animal that is found within the Sumatran rainforests. Their population is incredibly low today, it is estimated that there are now only 80 Sumatran Rhinos left.
By protecting the world's forests, we also protect the homes of animals.
This World Wildlife Day is a great day to help celebrate and raise awareness about forests, rainforests and forest, and rainforest animals. By protecting the forests, we protect the animals that live within them.
