The octopus is one of the natural world's most unique animals; there aren't many animals that are similar to the octopus. These beautiful and graceful animals are also one of the natural world's most intelligent animals.

Octopuses show intelligence in many different ways. Some of the things that octopuses can do is things like opening jars, opening aquarium tanks, solving puzzles and showing emotional intelligence too.


Female octopuses, when they are mothers-to-be, have been found to be extremely protective of their eggs and have been found to stay with them until they hatch.

World Octopus Day is a great day to raise awareness about them.


It's also a great day to show appreciation for octopuses.


World Octopus Day is celebrated on the 8th of October every year. World Octopus Day is also start the start of Cephalopod Awareness Days. World Cephalopod Awareness Days happens from the 8th of October to the 12th of October.


A cephalopod is a class of species that includes many different animal species. These animal species include - cuttlefish, octopuses, squids and nautilus.


How Many Species Of Octopus?

It is estimated that there are 300 species of octopuses.


Octopuses are found in the world's oceans and are found all over the world; this makes octopuses one of the most successful species in the world.


What Do Octopuses Eat?


Octopuses eat several different other marine animals. These other marine animals include - crabs, fish and scallops.

It's also a great day to appreciate these beautiful and fascinating animals, and that we share this wonderful planet with them.
