Happy National Pet Day

Pets

Today is National Pet Day; Happy National Pet Day!

National Pet Day is celebrated on the 11th of April every year.

It was founded in 2006.

National Pet Day, was created as a day to both celebrate pets and the wonderful part they play in our lives.

It was also a day created to raise awareness about the plight of pets.

The Plight Of Some Pets

Some of the world's pets don't have loving homes. Some pets are homeless, where either they live their life on the streets or, they live in shelters and sadly have no loving homes.

Some pets are sadly abandoned in pet shelters, through no fault of the pets themselves. If you are looking to adopt a pet in the future, please think about getting a pet from a pet shelter - pets in pet shelters are looking for their furever loving home.

Getting your pet from a pet shelter is much better than paying someone for a pet. Some people buy pets, like dogs, from people who have raised dogs on illegal puppy farms. Dogs and puppies are often mistreated when they come from illegal puppy farms, so, when you buy a pet from someone, you could unknowingly be supporting things like the illegal puppy trade.

A much better alternative is adopting a pet from a shelter. Pet shelters are often run by animal charities, who look for caring owners who are going to dedicate their lives to the pet.

A Pet Is For Life

Anyone who is going to get a pet should think about it beforehand. A pet is and should be a dedication for the duration of the pets life.

It's unfair to pets when people abandon them.

If you want a pet, please think it through before you adopt one. Pets need to be cared for and loved throughout their life.

Pets Are Wonderful

Pets are wonderful. They are loyal, loving and playful and are a special part of the family.

They capture our hearts in so many ways and are delightful to have as part of our lives. Dedicating a special day to them like today shows how much we love our pets.

Happy National Pet Day!
