What Are Manatees?
Manatees are a cute marine animal.
Manatees are a marine animal which has a cow-like appearance. This may be where Manatees get their cute nickname from - Sea Cows.
Manatees are also known as Sea Cows.
Where Are Manatees Found?
Manatees are found in the Americas and Africa.
In the Americas, Manatees are found in places like the Amazon basin in South America. They are also found in Mexico and some of the Southern states of the United States of America. These southern states include places like Florida.
In Africa, Manatees are found in the west of the continent. They are not found in the south-west of Africa though; these cute animals are found more in the north-west.
How Many Manatee Species Are There?
It is estimated that there are three or four different Manatee species.
One of these Manatee species is found in the Amazon basin. The Amazon basin is part of the Amazon rainforest; the Amazon rainforest is the largest tropical rainforest in the world today. The species of Manatee which is found in the Amazon basin is called the Amazon Manatee.
The other Manatee species are the American Manatee and the African Manatee (or West African Manatee).
Therefore, there are only a few Manatee species in the world.
What Is Their Conservation Status?
Manatees are classed as a vulnerable species.
As a vulnerable species, this means that Manatees are vulnerable to extinction.
What Is Manatee Awareness Month?
Manatee Awareness Month happens throughout November. It is a month aimed at raising awareness about Manatees and the threats that they face from people in the one. One of these threats to these beautiful animals is people getting close to Manatees and mistreating the animals.
Manatee Awareness Month isn't just a month to raise awareness about these beautiful animals, it is also a month to celebrate these wonderful animals, their uniqueness and beauty. There is no other animal quite like Manatees - they are unique to the natural world and cute.
