Butterflies are probably the world's most loved insect, due to their beauty and peaceful nature. These adorable insects are wonderful to see.

Some Butterflies are active during the winter months, however, the best time to see Butterflies is during the spring and summer. Spring and summer is a great time to help Butterflies and learn all about these beautiful animals.


How You Can Help Butterflies


There are several ways that you can help Butterflies.


One of the best ways that you can help Butterflies is by making your garden Butterfly friendly. To do this, plant flowers during the spring and summer to help them - planting flowers is a great way to help many insects, including Bees and Butterflies.


You can also help Butterflies in your garden by providing them with a Butterfly box - a Butterfly box is a home for Butterflies. And, you can also help Butterflies in your garden by providing them with food.

Learning About Butterflies


Learning about animals and nature is fun.


As spring is in the air and Butterflies will be coming out soon, it's a great time to learn about Butterflies. Worldwide, there are thousands of different Butterfly species that are found all around the world.


In the United Kingdom, there are 57 Butterfly species.


Butterflies are not just beautiful, they also help us to understand the health of the environment and the ecosystems around us. Both Butterflies and Moths are good indicators of the health of our ecosystems. In other words, a flourishing Butterfly population in an ecosystem is an indication of a healthy ecosystem, whereas, a declining population is an indication of an unhealthy and declining ecosystem.


It is the same for Moths, a flourishing population of Moths will indicate a flourishing ecosystem, whereas, a declining Moth population will indicate an unhealthy ecosystem. Moth and Butterflies therefore, tell us a lot about ecosystems.
