Today is National Hedgehog Day: Happy Hedgehog Day!
Hedgehogs are cute animals and a favourite garden visitor for people.
These cute animals can be found throughout the British Isles. National Hedgehog Day is a great day to celebrate these wonderful animals.
Hedgehog Day is celebrated every year on the 2nd of February.
In the Northern hemisphere, it is the middle of winter, where hedgehogs are currently hibernating. But, in the next few months, they will start coming out of hibernation.
Hedgehogs are nocturnal animals, which means that they are awake during the night and sleep during the daylight hours.
You can help hedgehogs when they come out of hibernation by creating your garden to be wildlife-friendly. One of the ways that you can make your garden wildlife-friendly for hedgehogs, is, by creating a hedgehog highway in your garden.
Creating a hedgehog highway is a great way to help hedgehogs because it helps the hedgehogs move about freely and safely. One of the reasons for their decline is not having access to gardens, so, by making your garden accessible to hedgehogs, you will be helping out these cute animals.
Hedgehogs are a wonderful delight to see in the garden.
Happy Hedgehog Day!
