This Hamster Day is a great day to celebrate and show some extra love to your cute pet hamster, if you have a hamster.
One of the most adorable things about hamsters is their cute little hands.
The way they move their nose is also so adorable.
Hamsters also look unique in the way that they store their food inside their mouths: hamsters store their food in the sides of their mouths in pouches when they are moving food from one place to the next place.
The food is taken back to wherever the hamster is living. When hamsters are pets, they usually store their food near to where they are sleeping in their cage.
Food is not the only thing hamsters will store in their cheek pouches. Hamsters will also store soft things that can be used for bedding in their cheeks; they will take this back to wherever they are sleeping and make a bed/nest out of the material.

Hamsters In The Wild
Hamster Day Is A Great Day To Raise Awareness About Hamsters
There is 19 known species of hamsters in the world today.
In the wild, hamsters are found in areas of the world like Europe and Asia. For example, the Syrian hamster (sometimes known as the Golden hamster), is found in parts of Syria and Turkey in the wild.
Today, Syrian hamsters are vulnerable to extinction.
In Europe, there is the European Hamster. Sadly last summer, the European was reclassified as critically endangered. They are also the world's rarest hamster, so they are very vulnerable to extinction today. European hamsters are now critically endangered because their population has declined dramatically. For example, it is estimated that the European hamster population has declined by a massive 94%.
The decline in European hamsters in places like France, show how much trouble our natural world is in, and how dramatically wild animals are disappearing.
Hopefully, we can save the European hamster from extinction.
