Happy Beaver Day!

Beaver

Today is Beaver Day; Happy Beaver Day!

Beaver Day is a great day to celebrate these cute animals, it is also a great day to raise awareness about beavers. Beavers are one of the most famous animals for being river-dwelling animals - they are well-known for reshaping river ecosystems.

Beavers are semi-aquatic animals, which means that they partly live on water and partly live on land. They are great swimmers and also charismatic animals.

Cute Beaver Eating

Beavers are found in both North America and in Europe.

They are herbivores, which means that their diet solely consists of eating plants. Beavers eat things like aquatic plants and tree bark.

The behaviour that beavers are most-well known for is their building of dams in rivers: beavers are one of the great architects of the natural world, they are skilled at building dams with trees that they have chewed down.

They also build their dams with things like mud and rocks.

In the UK, beavers have only be re-released into the country in recent years. They were once extinct from the UK for around 400 years. However, beavers have since been released back into the wild in the UK.

Today in the UK, the beaver population is just over 400 beavers.

Beavers are also the national animal of Canada.

Beaver Day is celebrated each year on the 7th of April.

Happy Beaver Day!
