A fashion brand called Sephora has banned the use of Mink eyelashes from their products.
What Are Mink Eyelashes?
Mink eyelashes are made from the hair of the cute animal Mink. Minks are a cute mammal that resembles Stoats or Ferrets.
Sadly, Minks are cruelly used for 'fashion' purposes, which sees these animals living in cramped, dark and horrific conditions. They are used for both their fur to make fur coats and their fur is also used to make fake eyelashes.
The Cruelty Of Mink Eyelashes
Mink fur farming is a cruel industry. As you can see from the picture above, Minks live in tiny, dirty and cramped metal cages all of their life.
Imagine having to live your life in a cage-like that, having no one give you love or medical treatment when you are ill (that's the reality for animals like Minks in fur farms).
Minks are forced to live in these conditions and have no freedom.
Mink eyelashes are not cruelty-free; they are cruelty.
Minks suffer from psychological and bodily pain while in Mink farms. They will chew at their legs from going insane, cramped, living in tiny cages - while also many suffer from physical pain; like having to live with the pain of broken legs.
Why Is Sephora Banning Mink Eyelashes?
Sephora is now banning Mink eyelashes after PETA sent the company a video which showed the cruel conditions that Minks live within.
Other Bans
PETA has successfully campained to get the fashion brand Velour, to ban their sale of Mink eyelashes after petitioning the fashion brand Velour.
The petition from PETA gained 60,000 supporters.
