An extremely rare Scottish Wildcat kitten was found outside in the snow in the highlands of Scotland recently.
The cute kitten was found outside an area of the Scottish highlands called Grantown-On-Spey by two walkers. The walkers found the kitten surrounded by sheep in the snow. Sadly, the cute kitten wasn't moving when they found her.
The friends took the kitten to the vets, because of the kittens very poor condition. The friends thought that this kitten was a domestic kitten, but, upon taking the kitten to the vet, they found out that this kitten - who they named Huntleigh - was in fact a Scottish Wildcat kitten.
Today, Scottish Wildcats are critically endangered and very close extinction. They are not cats that most people in Scotland have seen, as the Scottish Wildcat population today is extremely small today. It's thought the Scottish Wildcat population could be as low as just 30 cats in the wild today.
Scottish Wildcats are also elusive; they are very rarely seen in the wild. Scottish Wildcats are more endangered than pandas and tigers.
Sadly, Huntleigh was so poorly that she died soon after being taken to the vets. A fundraiser has been set up in her memory to raise money for Scottish Wildcats. If you want to help with the fundraiser in Huntleigh's memory, please go - here.
RIP sweet Huntleigh over the Rainbow Bridge. 🌈🐱🐈
