A new report has said that Elephants may be under threat from avocados.
Today, people are eating more avocados. The sale of avocados has grown over recent years. For example, in the United States of America, the sale of avocados grew by an estimated 7%.
The increase in demand for avocados is resulting in land being sought out so that the avocados can be grown on that land. The demand for avocados is resulting in harm being caused both to the environment and causing harm towards wild animals.
The New Report
The new report says that it is estimated that 2,000 Elephants could be prevented from 'free movement' because of avocado farms.
The avocado farms could also prevent another two dozen other wild animal species from moving about freely too.
Avocados and The Environment
Avocados may be good for our health, but, they are causing destruction towards the natural world and the environment.
There are many reasons why avocados are bad for the environment.
This includes:
. They use pesticides
. The need lots of wood for packaging
. They cause deforestation
. They cause other nature destruction
. They cause/contribute to greenhouse gases
Therefore, avocados are destructive towards both the environment and towards wildlife. In this instance, this new report has said that avocados are destructive towards Elephants and other animals that live in Africa.
