Deforestation in the Amazon rainforest has sadly been increasing.
New data out says that deforestation has increased for four months in a row recently. The worrying news is that deforestation has reportedly increased by 17% in 2021.
This is worrying news when we have a biodiversity crisis and a climate crisis. This news is particularly worrying for the animals that live within the Amazon rainforest.
There have been other bad news about the Amazon rainforest this week, as it has also been revealed that the Amazon rainforest is also emitting more CO2 than it absorbs and, that over 10,000 species now face extinction in the Amazon.
