Deforestation In The Amazon Rainforest Sets New Six-Month Devastating Record

Sloth, Deforestation

Deforestation in the Amazon rainforest has set a new six-month devastating record.

The Amazon rainforest is a beautiful ecosystem, it is home to amazing animals like sloths and jaguars and is one of the world's last true wildernesses, however, sadly it is also facing an increasing amount of destruction.

It has sadly been announced that 2022 has already seen a devastating amount of destruction in the Amazon rainforest, with the first 6 months of this year showing record levels of deforestation, it has been announced by the INPE national space agency, which has been recording deforestation since 2016.

The INPE national space agency found that deforestation in the Amazon rainforest was the worst since their record began in 2016, they also found that 1,448 square miles of Amazon rainforest had been destroyed in the first half of 2022.

When ecosystems like the Amazon rainforest are destroyed through deforestation, it is not just trees which are destroyed, we also lose the animals that live within the forest and other plant life which is in the forest. We also could be losing species of animals and plants we have not even discovered exists yet.

The large and increasing deforestation in the Amazon rainforest is alarming and heartbreaking.
