There is great news about beavers.
A baby beaver has been born in Exmoor for the first time in 400 years.
Exmoor is a place in England where beavers have been extinct for hundreds of years now. Beavers became extinct in Exmoor hundreds of years ago due to being hunted.
Beavers became extinct throughout Britain in the 16th century.
They became extinct in Britain due to things like them being hunted by humans and, them being used as foods, medicines and even perfumes by people.
Beavers haven't become extinct completely though and exist in Europe. Thanks to beavers still existing in other countries in Europe, it means that these cute animals have been able to be reintroduced into Britain.
The reintroduction of beavers is helping to bring them back.
The reintroduction of beavers in Exmoor happened in January 2020.
It hasn't taken long for Exmoor's first baby beaver for hundreds of years there to arrive. The National Trust announced that a baby beaver was spotted on camera in the estate where the beavers had been reintroduced in July 2021.
