This is great news, as Scottish wildcats are critically endangered.
There are only thought to be between 30-35 Scottish wildcats remaining in the wild of Scotland today - these beautiful cats once lived throughout Scotland. However, due to habitat destruction and being hunted, these beautiful animals have been pushed towards near-extinction.
There are also threats to the Scottish wildcat today, pushing this animal to extinction. Today, Scottish wildcats are threatened by deforestation; their forest home is being destroyed to make way for wind farms these last few years.
The destruction of the wildcat's forest home risks ending up in these beautiful cats becoming extinct in the future; we need to save their forest if they are to survive.
