The EU has come under criticism for its new climate policy.
The EU has said that it will cut emissions by 55% by 2030. However, that target has come under criticism for not being enough.
Greenpeace has said that the 'EU Commission's 2030 Climate Plan [Is] Trying To Negotiate With Nature'.
Greenpeace has said that the EU is ''fudging'' its numbers on its climate target. They go on to say that ''the target also falls far short of what science requires to avoid the worst effects of climate breakdown''.
Essentially what they are saying is that the EU's target isn't going to stop the worst of climate change.
Greenpeace says that the EU needs to cut emissions by 65% by 2030, to avoid the serious effects of climate change.
The WWF says the same thing; they also say that the EU's climate target is ''not enough''. The WWF also says that the EU must commit to a 65% cut to emissions to stop climate change.
The WWF has also said that the EU's new target was ''Out of touch, too low, and unclear''.
The EU's climate target of 55% is ambitious and welcoming, but it doesn't go far enough in helping to stop climate change.
