In today's Christmas advent, we are celebrating Snow Leopards!
Snow Leopards are a beautiful animal that is also known as 'ghosts of the mountains'. This is due to the habitats that they live in - they live in mountainous areas and are elusive animals. Snow Leopards are so elusive and have such great camouflage, that they can be very hard to spot in the wild.
Snow Leopards are found in some parts of Asia and Russia.
These beautiful big cats are vulnerable to extinction today. Sadly, the Snow Leopard population is so low today, that it is believed that there are as low as only between 2,710 and 3,386 Snow Leopards living in the wild today. The population of Snow Leopards is so low today that they are vulnerable to extinction.
Thankfully, there are conservationists, groups, and other people working to help save the Snow Leopard from extinction today. The Snow Leopard Trust helps to protect the Snow Leopard and save them from extinction.
