Christmas Advent Day 16: Red Wolves

Today is our 16th day in our Christmas advent calendar!

There are just 9 days to Christmas to go, and today, we are celebrating one of the rarest animals in the world - the Red Wolf.

Red Wolves are a beautiful animal. Red Wolves are found in North America. They are found in the South-East of the United States of America. Sadly, Red Wolves are extremely rare today. The Red Wolf population has declined quite significantly over the last few years. In 2006, there were over 130 individuals. Today, there are 7 Red Wolves that exist in North Carolina and no wolf litters were born in 2019 and 2020. There are 250 Red Wolves in captivity.

The future of this species will rely upon conserving Red Wolves, breeding programs, protecting them in the wild, and protecting their habits so they can live safe in the wild and also have somewhere to live.

The Wolf Conservation Centre works to help and save Red Wolves. If you want to help Red Wolves too, you can help the Wolf Conservation Center or follow them on social media. You can find the Wolf Conservation Centre - here!
