Cheetah

There is great news, as cheetahs have been reintroduced in India.

This is the first time that cheetahs have set foot in India in 70 years; these beautiful animals have been extinct in India since 1952.

This is amazing and hopeful news for these big cats.

Asiatic Cheetahs

Cheetah Subspecies

In Asia, there lives a subspecies of cheetah.

This subspecies of the cheetah is called the Asiatic cheetah.

The Asiatic cheetah is very rare today, they are so rare that they are one of the world's most endangered animals. Asiatic cheetahs are critically endangered today. Their population is very small, with only 12 individual Asiatic cheetahs existing today, all 12 of these cheetahs live in the wild in Iran.

A Hopeful Future

Cheetahs being reintroduced in India offers a hopeful future for these animals, and hopefully, it is a turning point for Cheetahs in Asia.

It is very positive to see these big cats back in India once again! 🧡
