The UK government have announced that it is to improve conditions for farm animals.
They have announced that they will be improving conditions for farm animals that are forced to travel. This change is set to improve the lives of millions of animals.
The news is welcoming and is a good start to banning live animal exports in the UK. The UK government says it will create rules which will shorten the time that animals are forced to travel in, and, will also bring in rules that affect the transportation of farm animals in 'extreme temperatures'. These extreme temperatures include extreme warm temperatures and extreme cold temperatures.
The new rules would mean that animals could not be forced to travel more than 24 hours, which would be great news for animals, as animals up until this point have cruelly been forced to travel for days as part of live animal exports.
The UK government is also set to ban live animal exports for slaughter and fattening purposes in England and Wales. Scotland and Northern Ireland should follow suit and also ban live animal exports; they should also follow the UK government in improving the lives of farm animals and stop their suffering.
The ban doesn't seem to completely ban animal exports but is a good and promising start to seeing the end of live animal exports in the UK. By banning live animal exports and by improving the lives of farm animals will help to create a kinder, compassionate and more civilized society for animals.
