Avian Flu Affecting Britain's Wild Birds

Puffin

There is sad and worrying news, as avian flu is affecting birds in Britain.

The RSPB says that thousands of birds have been dying in Scotland from avian flu. They say that the Shetland Islands in the far north of the Great British Isles have been particularly badly affected by avian flu.

Another area badly affected has been Solway Firth, which has seen 4,000 birds being killed by the deadly flu.

In nearby Norway and England, birds have also been affected by the avian flu. The news of the flu outbreak is worrying as it is deadly to birds and seems to be spreading fast to different areas.
