American Bald Eagle Makes An Incredible Recovery From The Brink Of Extinction!

Bald Eagles have made an incredible recovery from the brink of extinction.


A new report out by the U.S. Department of the Interior, has said that 'America's Bald Eagle population continues to soar'.


They say that the American Bald Eagle has quadrupled in size since 2009, their population has grown by 71,400 nesting pairs now.


The growth in the American Bald Eagle population has been thanks to a mixture of things like conservation efforts, giving them protections over the last few decades and, banning a pesticide which is harmful to them. All of this has helped the American Bald Eagle to come back from the brink of extinction.


This is an incredible recovery of these birds!

American Bald Eagle's have made an incredible recovery, because they were once at the brink of extinction, with a much lower population than they have now.


American Bald Eagles were on the brink of extinction by the 1960s. This species seen its lowest population in 1963, when there was only 417 pairs of them.


Today, thanks to efforts to help American Bald Eagles, the American Bald Eagle population has now grown to 316,700 individual eagles. This just shows that animals who are on the brink of extinction, can make a miraculous comeback if they are given protections, it also offers hope to other animals on the brink of extinction.


Where Are American Bald Eagles Found?


American Bald Eagles are found in 48 states in the USA today. They are found from as far south as Florida and as far north as Alaska.


American Bald Eagles are also found in Canada.


What Is Their Habitat?


These birds are found in places where there is large open water, such as rivers and lakes. They are also found in costal areas.


What Is Their Conservation Status?


Today, their conservation status is one of 'least concern'. Thankfully, these beautiful birds aren't endangered or at risk of extinction today.


Some Cool Facts About Them


American Bald Eagles have a grip that is much more powerful than a humans grip, it's estimated that their grip is 10x more powerful than a humans one.


They also have much better eyesight than humans too. It is believed that the eyesight of American Bald Eagles are at least 3 to 4x better than a humans sight.


Their hearing is also as good as a humans hearing.


American Bald Eagles are the USA's national animal.


American Bald Eagles are cool and it's great that they have made a great recovery!
